Trail Dust Farms is part of the original May Plantation which was homesteaded in 1828. The original 4,000 acres were on both sides of the Black Warrior River in both Greene and Hale counties. The family lived on the west bank in Knoxvillle, Greene county and farmed the rich soil of the east bank in Hale county. Farms animals and equipment were farried back and forth across the river.  The plantation was completely self sufficient with the exception of coffee and sugar. The Mays actively farmed the entire homestead for over 100 years. The old cotton house was located on the river and can be seen at Tannehill State Park where it was moved and rebuilt in the early 1990's. Margaret Elizabeth May Jicks still owns and maintains a part of the original acreage.  With access of just over 1,000 acres of beautiful hardwood river bottoms and hillsides this region is well known for the prolific wildlife.  We offer a very limited number of Whitetail Deer, Turkey, and Duck hunts. Please contact us for further information about availability and pricing.
